Review: Pure Love's Sexy Time Vol. 1 by Psyche Delico

While plowing through my tbr list over the weekend I had a chance to read Juné's latest release: Pure Love's Sexy Time Vol. 1. While it wasn't quite what I expected it  is pretty much exactly what its synopsis promises:

"What do animals do in the spring of their lives? They mate! Wildly!

Four mischievous friends have met their match: their own hearts! Now that they're older, the only troubles these country boys find make them moan and pant. Kou-chan wants to confess to Kishi, but he's full of heart-pounding doubt over Kishi's response. Mitsuru, the serious boy pining for a lost love, is ambushed by Tarou, an obtuse, air-headed sadist, full of devotion for his darling. And who is this tall boy, beating everyone up yet shooting flowers out of the panels? Somebody needs to figure out his body language."

While having an underlying theme of four friends finding love and exploring all that comes along with it, this series is just....truly.... really, really horny. While the dynamic between the characters and their love interests was fun to follow, it was so chock full of spicy scenes that after a while it was honestly just desensitizing.

I generally prefer to highlight the positives of a new release as much as possible, however, I'm acutely aware of the fact that reviews are only valuable if they're honest - and nobody loves everything they read. Pure Love's Sexy Time might end up being your favorite title for all I know... but for me, it just kind of missed the mark. The art is good quality with sort of mid-tier censorship (you do and don't see the anatomical details), but I would say the character design is uninspired and the story over all is somewhat forgettable. It is worth noting that there are also significant consent issues between one of the pairings - so much so that some readers may find it uncomfortable.

Over all, it isn't the worst thing I've ever read, but none of the characters will be living rent-free in my head, either. It was just okay. If you want a sex-heavy manga with multiple pairings and not too much plot to follow then this would actually be a great choice. However, if you're looking for something that is so good you just can't put it down - this probably won't be it.

TLDR;

So spicy it's kind of boring
