Synopsis

An assassin dispatched for espionage. A princess divided between two selves. In ninety days, one of them will lose everything.

Lyra Veyne has survived the underworld by following one simple rule: Do the job. Take the pay. Ask no questions. Her latest assignment should be no dierent: inltrate the Royal Palace of Elaria, locate a classied document, and deliver it to the infamous Veil Legion within ninety days.

Instead, Lyra’s carefully planned infiltration takes an unexpected turn when the assassin finds herself appointed personal bodyguard to Princess Seraphina Valmere. Beautiful, sharp-tongued, and impossible to intimidate, Seraphina has returned to a palace where an unwanted marriage awaits, enemies hide behind courtly smiles, and someone is determined to ensure she never lives long enough to inherit the throne. Keeping her alive would be complicated enough. Then Lyra discovers there is more than one Seraphina to protect. Sometimes, the princess is fearless, dazzling, and utterly certain of herself.

Other times, she is timid, vulnerable, and seemingly unaware of the other woman who shares her face. Now Lyra must find the document without revealing why she entered the palace, uncover who wants Seraphina dead, and protect a princess she is growing dangerously reluctant to betray. And with threats closing in around Seraphina and Lyra’s own deadline drawing nearer, time is running out for them both. The Veil Legion gave Lyra ninety days. If she returns empty-handed, she won’t live to see the ninety-first.

As for the princess… one question is becoming particularly difficult to answer:

Which princess am I speaking to now?
